Three steps to a comparison

1

Your key details

Postal code, birth year, deductible and model — four entries, under half a minute.

2

The comparison

Every insurer operating in your premium region appears at once — the cheapest on top.

3

Advice, if you want it

Entirely optional: we review your situation free of charge and handle the paperwork on request.

Why the comparison is worth it

Insurers charge very different premiums for exactly the same statutory basic cover. Depending on where you live, your deductible and your model, several hundred francs a year can separate the most expensive policy from the cheapest — with benefits that are identical by law. And switching itself costs nothing.

Keep the notice period in view

Cancel your basic insurance by 30 November and the switch takes effect on 1 January of the following year. Watch out for alternative models with a fixed contract term: deadlines there sometimes differ — we are happy to check that for you.

Questions and answers

What data is the calculator built on?
On the official premium dataset the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) publishes every year for all licensed health insurers. Nothing in it is estimated, extrapolated or second-hand.
Are these the current 2026 premiums?
Yes. The calculator shows the premiums approved by the FOPH for the current year 2026, valid from 1 January to 31 December 2026. The FOPH is expected to release the 2027 premiums in late September or early October 2026 — we will update the calculator immediately when it does.
Why does my premium depend on my postal code?
Because the Federal Council splits every canton into up to three premium regions. Two municipalities in the same canton can therefore pay noticeably different premiums for the same product from the same insurer — in places the gap exceeds 20 per cent.
What's the difference between Standard, family doctor, HMO and Telmed?
The standard model leaves you free choice of doctor. With family doctor, HMO and Telmed you commit to contacting a set first point of call when you fall ill — your GP, a health centre or a telephone advice line. In return the premium often drops noticeably.
Which deductible suits me?
Rule of thumb: the higher the deductible, the lower the premium — but the more you pay yourself when you fall ill. If you rarely see a doctor, a high deductible usually works out cheaper; with predictable, regular treatment the low deductible pays off. The calculator shows you both in seconds.
By when do I have to cancel?
For basic insurance the date is 30 November: if your cancellation reaches the insurer by then, you are covered by the new one from 1 January of the following year. Alternative models with a multi-year term can have a different deadline — a look at your policy, or a quick question to us, settles it.
What does the consultation cost me?
Nothing. Neither the comparison nor the conversation with our partner afterwards costs you anything, and you take on no obligation whatsoever. Whether and when you switch is entirely your call.
What happens to my details?
What you type into the calculator stays in your browser as long as you submit no form. If you request advice, we transmit your contact details encrypted and use them for that purpose only. The specifics are in the privacy policy.
